How much does a small business website cost in Texas?
With us, a custom 1-2 page website costs $450 one-time, or $60 a month with hosting and updates included. Bigger sites get one flat quote before any work starts. But the price you'll see from anyone depends on a handful of things. Knowing them makes it much easier to compare quotes.
What actually drives the price of a website
- Number of pages. A one-page site with your services, hours, and contact details is the simplest build. Every extra page (separate service pages, a gallery, an about page) adds design and writing time.
- Custom design vs. a template. A lightly edited template is cheaper up front but tends to look like everyone else's. A custom design is built around your business, your customers, and your brand.
- Features. Online booking, an online store, or a members area take more work than a contact form and a map.
- Who writes the words. If you supply the text and photos, the build goes faster. If your designer writes it, that's extra time. It's often worth it, though, because good wording is what turns visitors into calls.
- Ongoing care. Hosting, security updates, and small edits after launch cost something every month, whether you pay for them separately or as part of a plan.
Your options, from cheapest to most expensive
1. Build it yourself
Website builders let you drag and drop a site together for a monthly subscription. It's the lowest cash cost, but you pay in time, and it's easy to end up with a site that looks unfinished, loads slowly on phones, or never shows up on Google.
2. A freelancer or small studio
This is where we sit. You get a custom site and a real person to call, without paying for an agency's overhead. The key is to get a flat price in writing, so the number doesn't grow halfway through.
3. A marketing agency
Agencies bring bigger teams and bigger price tags. They make sense for large, complex projects. For most local businesses, though, you'll pay for account managers and meetings you don't need.
One-time payment vs. a monthly plan
There are two ways to pay for a website:
| Buy it outright | Monthly plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Our price (1-2 pages) | $450 one-time | $60/month + $150 setup (12-month term), or $80/month on a 6-month term |
| Hosting | You arrange it | Included |
| Edits after launch | Quoted when you need them | Small edits included |
| Best for | Owners who want the lowest total cost and don't expect many changes | Owners who want low upfront cost and someone looking after the site |
On a 12-month monthly plan, your first year comes to $870 ($150 setup + 12 × $60), with hosting and upkeep covered the whole time. If a plan ends, we archive your site rather than delete it, so it can come back online later.
Hidden costs to ask about before you hire anyone
- Domain name. Your web address (like yourbusiness.com) renews every year. Make sure it's registered in your name.
- Hosting. If it isn't included, find out what it costs and who manages it.
- Edits after launch. Is changing your hours or prices included, or billed by the hour?
- Ownership. Who owns the site if you stop paying? Get the answer in writing.
- "Starting at" prices. Ask for a fixed total before any work begins, not an estimate.
Is a cheap website worth it?
A website only pays for itself if it brings in customers. For most Texas small businesses that means three things: it loads fast on a phone, it clearly says what you do and where you work, and it makes it one tap to call you. A modest, well-built site that does those things will outperform an expensive one that doesn't.
